Creating your success…never feel like a nobody again.

Success to me means happiness and being valued for what I do.

So many times I’ve heard, “I’m just and admin officer” or “I’m not in their league.”

That just gets my goat.

Why?

I mean, who has the right to say anyone’s contribution is less than someone else’s? Why can’t you be the great at what you do and be proud of it?

All negativity is just piffle, it takes everyone and their special talents to make the world go round. Every job is just a problem solver. You need groceries, there is a checkout person to sell it to you, if you are an HR officer, you are there to solve the need for staffing and to make sure that staff is treated respectfully. ‘Just a farmer’ feeds the nation. ‘Just a carpenter’ builds your houses. ‘Just an admin officer’ makes the rest of the boffin’s look good when they need help with the non-technical work.

Everyone is special and that is what you need to base your idea of success on.

It’s about time we all changed our definition of SUCCESS…

Success is not about money or position,

Success to me means happiness and being valued for what I do.

What can you do to overcome the fear that others opinions of what you do is less value, beneath them or plain not good enough?

I have always ensured I know everyone’s names from the CEO, to the Managers, fellow workers and the cleaner’s at all my workplaces. That way they feel your respect. Sometimes just a hello with their name can make peoples day, and yes that includes the BIG BOSS too.

Never hide yourself, always use your confident voice and make a connection with people from all walks of life. You will gain their admiration and MAYBE boost their self-esteem at the same time. Everyone want’s to feel appreciated. When you recognise someone’s persona they do a better job for you. When they do a good job, that is success!

HELPFULNESS…. is a two way street. Always thank someone for their contribution as you would like to be thanked. When someone helps you with anything, holding a door, mopping a floor, typing a report, or giving advice. Use common courtesy, even when it’s someone’s job to help you. This will make you a success.

Here are my three tips to create your success…

  1. Rock your POSITIVITY, always look for the glass half full.
  1. DO everything WITH Confidence
  1. Show your RESPECT by being courteous, cheerful and helpful to everyone.

This is not always as easy as it sounds; some times we need to fake it ‘til we make it!

Everyone stuffs up at some point, don’t let it get to you, the SECRET is to learn from it and turn it into a skill. This is the greatest challenge, acknowledging the issues, and taking steps to learn and rectify and when conquered, it will add to your achievement. My advice is … do it with a smile on your face. Then you will be a success.

So, do you think you can change your definition of success, and be great at whatever you do?

Good, because that is the Barefoot Mentor way.
