When I was filling out my LinkedIn profile the other day it asked for my job title. Funny, at that point I didn’t have one. What do you put when you are in limbo.
I learned people put down “seeking opportunities”. What a nice polite way to say unemployed.
But I’m not seeking opportunities. I am creating a business and life that I love.
So, I wrote CEO.
At first it was because I was chief of my destiny now. I was chief of my family, chief of my house, chief of my next move, chief of my image and chief of my soul.
I know they mean Chief Executive, but why? It’s just and acronym.
Within days of this earth shattering brain flash, I worked to get my act together and come up with my new designation. I created my own job title.
My new life is not about climbing the corporate ladder. I am a location independent purveyor of information to the masses. I am an entrepreneur.
But what do I really do now?
Well,
- Blogger sounds simple.
- Course creator and online trainer are only part if my new existence.
- Website developer – I am definitely that.
- Bookkeeper, yes
- Accounts payable hoping to be accounts receivable too…
- Mentor, yes I definitely do that.
- Philanthropist, a definite in the future….
I decided I needed to be definite in what I want to achieve?
I want to enlighten people about the benefits of having a mentor.
So I went back in to LinkedIn and wrote Chief Enlightenment Officer.
Yep that is what I do.
A couple of days later I was interviewed by a fellow blogger. The first this she said to me was:
“What a cool job title”
I felt great saying, “thanks, it’s my goal to enlighten people.”
Getting to the stage in my life where I have created a designer lifestyle gives me more satisfaction that you will ever know. I have worked hard to get to this point. I have given everything to my old life. Paid my dues to the corporate world. Now it is my time to shine.
So if you decide you want a piece of the good life too. All it takes is to really understand your passion and your strengths and add this to what you REALLY want to achieve. Once you have the answers to these, everyday sparkles and is filled with happiness, lightness and sunshine.
Work towards giving yourself your ultimate job title. I would love to help you on your journey. The least you can do is find yourself a great mentor. Their encouragement and insight will have you flying to the moon and back.
I thank my lucky stars that a great mentor came into my life who taught me to take charge with confidence, compassion and dignity. I know that when the going gets tough, he is only a phone call away.
