Beta Testing gives you opportunity to have input into tech products right from the get go.
As a mentor I am here to encourage you to get involved in making a change.
You have a problem you want solved? Chances have it that someone else has the same issue as you. As technology advances we all seem to hit snags in making it work as you want it to.
Are you up with all the latest technology? Can you think of a better, faster, more interesting way of doing things? Siting in Corporate Land you get spoon fed a lot of tech stuff by your IT Department as budget and conservative innovation allows. Usually you get software many versions into a product so that someone else has worked out all the bugs. It is very rare that you get to have solution gurus design systems specifically for your needs as the creative dollars involved usually outweigh the benefit. Worst of all they usually take your brief, say they can do that and what you get is nothing like what you wanted.
I can hear you say, absolutely….
When you become a Solopreneur you have to work it all out yourself?
What a bonus, no one telling you whether you can have the software you need. You control the purse strings and the installs.
As I was writing my mentoring eCourses and having to figure out all the technical stuff along the way. I tried so many different ideas to put it together so that it works and is useful. To no avail, I tried creating a membership site, but kept getting stuck with integrating this with my website. I have taken other peoples courses on building courses, they seem to have it all together, but what they provide is not what I wanted to do. I wanted to understand the tech stuff, but they wanted to tell me how to make my course pretty and useful. Sure my course needs to be both of those but if I cannot format it the way I want it is no use.
As online courses are still a developing requirement, companies are out there charging an arm and a leg for their course shell products.
So what is a tech loving girl to do?
Well, as my marketing guru Marie Forleo says “everything is figureoutable”.
It seems I was not the only one with this exact problem. I started following a guy who was trying to work this stuff out too. He’d already hired someone to come up with a cost effective, useful, practical solution and the best part was he was looking for beta testers.
“That’s where I need to be” I thought to my techie self. Beta Testing gives you the opportunity to view what they’re doing before the product is sold live and have input into making it work. It might be free or it might cost a few dollars to get yourself involved, but it is really worth it.

I love being a Beta Tester. I can break just about any product given opportunity so these guys loved me and I’m not afraid to ask for help or a solution if I get stuck. Being on first name basis with the guys who are on the cutting edge is brilliant because that way – they are tailoring the solution to fit your needs as well at the needs of all the other beta testers who hit snags and break the product.
Genius…. Now I have a group of people working towards providing my ultimate solution.
My advice to you is, if you find yourself with an opportunity to have input into making a positive change, go for it! It doesn’t have to be techie change, it can be a process change or a marketing solution. Don’t be shy. Hit it hard and eventually you can say proudly, I helped figure this out.
