Everyone has at least one book in them. Don’t let me hear you say, “I couldn’t do that!” Of course you have something to share, an idea, photos from your travels, stories or knowledge from your life learning. Today it is so simple to turn your unique into an eBook to communicate with the world.
With more and more people owning eReaders, Tablets and Smartphones, having something to read right at our fingers is always an option.
Platforms such as iBooks, Amazon Kindle, Kobo and Goodreads allow you to make some moolah from your story and who doesn’t love making money. Having a passive income stream on the side is as good a fall-back position as you will ever have. If you have a blog, a Facebook Business Page, Instagram, Pinterest or other social sharing site you have a way of marketing and let’s face it, you never know who you might help with your thoughts.
When I first started in business, I didn’t have a product to share with anyone, just 25 years experience and lots of ideas floating around in my head. 12 months on I had enough blog material to write a book.
Researching the easiest way to get my word documents into a publishable format, serendipity struck and I was invited to workshop at my daughter’s school to learn how to use a Book Creator App on the iPad. Every child in the school was being given the opportunity to write their own books and share them in a school eBook library. How amazing, if our kids can write books then surely so can any of us.
Apple has also introduced iB
ooks Author, an app for Mac where you can use templates to easily create stunning visuals and import information to add from many format, including Word. This is the way of the future. Books will no longer be just text, on Author you can add movies, charts, photos and all sorts of interesting data and make it completely interactive if you wish. Definitely another way to express your creative and share your genius. The best bit it is all so simple.
To make it really useful, the one feature I loved with this app is that you can do your thing, write your piece, add you photos or drawings and then you can export it as a pdf or EPUB to share with people who don’t have access to Apple systems.
I now have one business book under my belt, Secret Mentor Business – Twelve months in the making and think I will go off and write some more. Maybe fiction this time…
